Marysville
Academy stages vocal showcase
"Musicality IV, a vocal showcase" featuring students of the Marysville Charter Academy for the Arts, is set this weekend at the Marysville Community Auditorium.
The show is at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with doors open at 7 p.m., at 1919 B St., Marysville.
Admission is $10 general, and $5 for students, active-duty military and seniors.

Yuba City
Fundraiser for River Valley class
The River Valley High School Class of 2014 is receiving 15 percent of sales generated Wednesday at Chili's Grill and Bar in Yuba City.
Customers must present a flier at the time of purchase.
Copies of the flier are available at the high school office, at 801 El Margarita Road, Yuba City.
Chili's Grill and Bar, at 1300 Annette Way, is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Herger makes academy nominations
Several high school students were nominated to United States Service Academies by Congressman Wally Herger.
Congressional nomination is required to attend a service academy.
Local nominees include Collin Goodman of Colusa, who was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Naval Academy; Mario Kohn of Yuba City and Jonathan Vickner of Sutter, both to the U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Military Academy; and Stephanie Sarabia of Yuba City, U.S. Air Force Academy.

PG&E full-ride scholarships
High School students within the Pacific Gas and Electric Company's 70,000 square-mile service area are eligible to apply for scholarships offered by the company.
Students must be a high school senior or graduate, at least 16 years old and plan to enroll at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school.
Up to 10 students within the Northern and Central California service area will receive full-ride scholarships of up to $30,000 per year in the inaugural PG&E "Bright Minds Scholarships."

Sacramento
Teacher to present at bilingual conference
Cedar Lane School teacher Jorge Duenas has been invited to make a presentation at the California Association for Bilingual Education conference March 10 in Sacramento.
Recognized for his area of expertise, he will present the workshop "Disciplina con dignidad siete dias a la semana," or "Discipline with dignity seven days a week."
Duenas has been an educator in the Marysville Joint Unified School District for the past 26 years and has received several awards from the county, the school district and community groups for his service in education and the community.
