3 suspected gang members arrested in Yuba City
Three suspected gang members were arrested this week after police said they found them inside a car with a gun and 2 pounds of marijuana.
Catarino Fernandez Aguilar was jailed on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale and contributing to the delinquency of minors. He is being held without bail at Sutter County Jail on an immigration violation, according to booking records.
Aguilar, 21, was part of a group accused of breaking into a brown 1990 Honda Accord on Wednesday night, Yuba City police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey said.
The vehicle was parked at the La Paloma apartment complex in the 300 block of McRae Way. Aguilar lives at the same complex.
Officers were called to the scene around 8:30 p.m. and found Aguilar and four other people still inside the car with about 2 pounds of marijuana "in plain view," Pavey said.
Two teenage boys, ages 15 and 17, were also arrested. One of them was carrying a handgun. Matching ammunition was also found, police said.
Officers searched Aguilar's apartment and found an undetermined amount of methamphetamine and a digital scale, police said.
Two other people, ages 19 and 16, were also detained briefly Wednesday night, but not arrested, Pavey said.
The teenagers were booked into Bi-County Juvenile Hall on gang, drug, and weapons allegations.
