Lloyd and Auburn Decker: 69th anniversary
Longtime Yuba City residents Lloyd and Auburn Decker, the former Auburn Turnbull, celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary with a family gathering July 3 at Heritage Park Clubhouse in Sacramento.
The couple met when he rented a room at a boarding house she owned with her mother in Grass Valley after receiving his first assignment with Bank of America. They were married July 3, 1942, at First Methodist Church in Reno, Nev.
A World War II veteran, he retired in 1984 as the vice president and manager of the Yuba City branch of Bank of America. He has worked in various branches throughout the state. He is a member and past president of the Marysville Rotary and the Boy Scouts of America, receiving its highest adult award, the Silver Beaver. Also, he served as the treasurer and president of the Peach Tree Country Club.
She served for many years as a member of the Inner Wheel Women's organization earning money for the Children's Artificial Limb Organization and volunteers as a "pink lady" for Rideout Memorial Hospital.
They are both members of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
The couple's family includes three children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
