• Latest achievement: Completed my first CD, "Andybob's Virgin Country Mix" featuring "Our Veterans." Plan to donate 20 percent of sales to the Disabled American Veterans. I write the lyrics and the songs are recorded in Nashville, Tenn.

• My favorite song on the CD: "Secrets": about when my wife and I were young, going out together.

• Hobbies, interests: Golf, song writing since late 2007

• Where do you get your news? Appeal-Democrat and TV

• What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? My family moved here from San Francisco when I was about 5 years old. I graduated from Marysville High School in 1966 and was away while in the military.

• What brought you back to the Yuba-Sutter area? I moved back here to help my parents about 25 years ago.

• What is the closest you've been to a famous person? I shook hands with Arnold Palmer at a PGA merchandise exposition in Orlando, Fla., and played golf with Ben Crenshaw and Bob Tway. I was a pretty good golfer.

• Who do you most admire and why? My dad. He never finished high school but he was the smartest guy I ever knew.

• Tell us about a life-changing experience: The birth of my first son, Daniel.

• What is your favorite place to go to in the Yuba-Sutter area? Dragon Inn restaurant in Marysville

• If you were in charge, what would you change about the community? Improve the road structure to help eliminate all the congestion.

• Favorite book: "Gone with the Wind"

• Favorite movie: "The Great Escape"

• Favorite actor/actress: Paul Newman/Barbara Stanwyck

• What is your worst fear? I'm afraid we won't have a stable country for our children.

• What was your first job as a kid? Picking peaches in Arboga

• Favorite type of music: Country

• Favorite television show: The Golf Network

• Favorite sports team: Dallas Cowboys

• How would you describe yourself? Determined. When I set my mind to something I see it through.

• What kind of pets do you have? Three dogs, four rabbits, eight cows, two goats, one peacock, 15 dove, 30 chickens, a pony, 30 pheasant

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
