70th anniversary: Haggard

Longtime Olivehurst residents Jim and Virginia Haggard are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.
The couple both grew up in the same town, Henryetta, Okla., where they attended the same schools and even knew some of the same people, but didn't meet until they moved separately to Olivehurst in the early 1930s.
They were married Nov. 4, 1942, in Reno, Nev. — he was 17 years old and she was 16.
He retired from Caltrans and Operating Engineers.
She retired from the housekeeping department at Fremont Hospital.
Both attend Word of Life Church in Marysville.
Their family includes three children, Donna, Roger and Jimmy; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
