What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? In 1992 my husband, an avid outdoorsman, brought me up to this area on New Year's Day to Gray Lodge. We fell in love with the area — with both our jobs we were able to transfer here and we moved from Pleasant Hill in 1994.

Favorite places in the area: Gray Lodge Wildlife Area. It's become a family tradition for us to go every New Year's Day. We take our dogs, go on hikes, take pictures.

What is your dream retirement site? A little cottage in Carmel.

What is the closest you've been to a famous person? In the 1980s, my mom and I went to see Frank Sinatra sing in Reno. I remember that my mom tipped the maitre d' $50 for a front row seat. As a result Frank sang to us and held our hands.

What did you want to be when you were a kid? I wanted to be an actress.

What is your dream job? I would love to own a small business on Ocean Avenue in Carmel.

If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? I would wish the federal deficit would be gone so my children and their children wouldn't have to worry about it.

What would you do with a million dollars? I would probably start a small business.

What is your dream vacation? We love the coast.

What have you learned from your kids? How innovative and enterprising they are at such a young age.

Do you belong to any clubs or organizations in the community? The Rotary Club of Yuba City.

What's the last good book you read? The biography of Steve Jobs.
