Letter: Here's a proposal: accept city's offer

The Hillcrest Water System argument has no short — or long-term solution because the Hillcrest Water System design was obsolete before it ever became an issue. A moderate water rate increase will at least get something going in the short term. The long term has already been set by global warming and it is too late for anyone to change the direction. Take the offer, sign and stamp the mail-in card.

At least for awhile you will have surface water and a newer water distribution system with pumps and filters in place for the time when panic well digging begins in earnest to support the community's thirst. Meanwhile, make friends with your neighbors who have wells. Maybe they won't charge you too much when you bring your buckets over for a fill.
