Briefs: Beale rock crusher going on Internet auction

A portable rock crusher used to help maintain roads and for other purposes at Beale Air Force Base will be put up for public auction online on Wednesday.

The crusher, which was built in 1995, is still in good condition but would have to be modified for use in California, according to a press release from Government Liquidation, which is the auction site for the Department of Defense.

A starting bid of $150 is set for the auction, which will go from 9 a.m. Wednesday to 2 p.m. Friday. The website for the auction is at tinyurl.com/ajekngl.

A-D wants to hear about love stories

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and the Appeal-Democrat is looking for couples with unusual or interesting love stories.

For example, we'd like to interview a local couple married for more than 60 years, a married couple who met via the Internet or anybody with an unusual story.

If you live in the Mid-Valley and would like to share your love story, contact City Editor Eric Vodden at 749-4769 or evodden@appeal democrat.com.
