Business Briefs: Heckman named U.S. Bank's relationship manager
Greg Heckman has been named relationship manager for U.S. Bank in Yuba City.
He has 13 years of banking experience, most recently serving as vice president and relationship manager for Umpqua Bank in Yuba City.
Previously, he was the president and chief executive officer of a frozen-food manufacturing company.
Heckman, a former Navy officer, received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and graduated from the Graduate School of Banking in Colorado.
He also holds a California real estate broker license and is a member of the Yuba City Economic Advisory Commission and the Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors.
U.S. Bank is located at 903 Colusa Ave.
Umpqua ups donation rate to bank's charity
Umpqua Bank is adding to its Give Back to School Fund by doubling its contribution over the Labor Day weekend in raising funds for grants to kindergarten to 12th-grade schools in Oregon, Washington, California and Nevada.
The bank, with headquarters in Roseburg, Ore., is contributing $2 per "like" and "share" on its Facebook page.
The bank has been donating $1 per "like" and "share" since Aug. 9. The fundraising campaign ends Sept. 10.
Persons can also nominate their school for a grant by posting a recommendation on Umpqua's Facebook wall before Sept. 10. Schools must be located within the bank's four-state territory.

Tree-estimating winners at Yuba-Sutter Fair named
Richard's Tree Service of Yuba City drew attention to redwood trees during the 2012 Yuba-Sutter Fair with two contests featuring a portion of a tree it had cut down the week before.
Participants who each received $100 were:
• Gloria Stulman of Valencia for guessing the age of the tree by counting its rings — 82 years;
• Joseph Henley of Yuba City by guessing the height of the tree before it was cut down — 117 feet and 4 inches.
Zumba Fitness hosting fundraiser for Komen
Donations are sought from local businesses for a fundraiser planned to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure and breast cancer research.
Dance.Fit.Life Zumba Fitness is hosting a "Party in Pink" for the third year, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 29 at 1747 Live Oak Blvd., Yuba City.
Suggested raffle donations are gift certificates and items that highlight the donor's business, plus assorted fresh fruit and fresh baked goods for the event.
