• Hobbies, interests: I love garage sales. It’s like a treasure hunt and it is a form of stress therapy to just browse. I also love camping with my family and traveling.
• Where do you get your news? The Appeal-Democrat newspaper.
• What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? My husband. I was living in Santa Rosa until I met and married my husband, who is originally from Yuba City. I moved here in 2002 and have enjoyed living here.
• What keeps you in the Yuba-Sutter area? Family and friends. I also like the small-town atmosphere.
• What is the closest you’ve been to a famous person? In 1998-1999, I was in New Orleans for vacation during the Mardi Gras, and saw Sandra Bullock in the parade. Also saw Willie Nelson singing at the Petaluma Fair a few years ago.
• Favorite television show: I watch life stories on the Lifetime Channel.
• Whom do you most admire and why? My good friend Diane Kindred, who is a nurse. She is a compassionate and positive person that always leaves me feeling uplifted and joyful after spending time with her.
• Tell us about a life-changing experience: My second marriage changed my life. He is the love of my life, my best friend and soulmate.
• Favorite quote: “Just do it. Don’t stop thinking about the future.” I think of this every time I go running for exercise. I really don’t like running but I need it to relax.
• What was your first job? Cleaner for Motel 6 during the summer while I was in high school. Never again.
• How would you describe yourself? Outgoing, curious, a good sense of humor. That’s what friends say about me.
• What kind of pets do you have? One cat named Sunshine. She really adopted us.
• What are your favorite places to go in Yuba-Sutter/Mid-Valley/Sacramento area? Trader Joe’s in Sacramento
• Do you belong to any clubs or organizations in the community? Outreach Advisory Council
• What are some of your fondest memories? Taking the kids to Disneyland, going to Hawaii with my mother, and going to Denver to visit my father’s side of the family. Those were good memories.
• What are your favorite foods? Mexican and Thai food
• Favorite movie: “The Color Purple.”
• When/how did you become deaf? Cause unknown. My mother remembers me talking as a baby up to about 12 months old. She didn’t think much about it until a door slam scared me. I was 18 months old when an audiologist tested me and found out I was deaf.
