Seat belt stop leads to gun, gang arrests

Failure to fasten seat belts resulted in the arrest of six suspected gang members on gun charges, a Yuba City Police Department spokeswoman said today.

Shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday, a patrol officer noticed two of six people in a vehicle at Plumas and B streets were not wearubg seat belts. A loaded handgun was found in the car when it was stopped about a block away, said Shawna Pavey.

Arrested for participation in a criminal street gang and various gun charges were: Quinton Dale Ontiveros, 18, of the 300 block of Aylor Avenue, Yuba City; David Rodriguez, 19 of Hawthorne Street, Yuba City; Jose Andrew Lopez, 21, of the 400 block of Robinson Avenue, Yuba City; Ricardo Lopez, 20, of the 2200 block of North Beale Road, Linda; Julio Perez, 18, of the 5500 block of Alicia Avenue, Linda; and Miguel Angel Lopez, 19, of the 500 block of Hawthorne Street, Yuba City.
