Pfc. Zachary M. Bond

U.S. Army Pfc. Zachary Major Bond is the son of James and Tina Bond of Marysville. He is grandson to Roger and Jeannette Mason, also of Marysville.

Bond graduated from Marysville High School in 2002 and joined the Army in 2007. He attended basic training at Fort Sill, Okla., and received medals in expert marksmanship. Bond completed his training as a gunner and has been stationed at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas.

Bond was deployed to Iraq in May and while on patrol in July, his vehicle was hit by an IED explosive. He has undergone several surgeries and he is now recovering at Fort Bliss. Bond was awarded the Purple Heart for his injuries.

Bond is married to Tiffanie Davidson of Marysville. He has a stepdaughter, Kassandra.
