Women’s club hosts breakfst
The Hallwood Women’s Club is hosting a community breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the clubhouse, 2629 Highway 20, Hallwood.
Breakfast includes a waffle special and “Mickey Mouse” pancakes for kids.
Price ranges from $3.50 to $7.
Baked good will also be for sale.

Dance therapy is speaker’s topic
UC Davis graduate student researcher Maria Ventura will be the guest speaker for the next Tri-County Parkinson’s Support Group meeting.
She will demonstrate how dance can help with Parkinson’s disease and answer questions concerning her studies on cognitive deficits on the disease.
The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at 969 Plumas St., Yuba City.

Retired Teachers luncheon set
The next luncheon meeting for the California Retired Teachers Association is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Moose Lodge, 205 S. Walton Ave., Yuba City.
Guest speaker David Rubiales will discuss local history.
The meeting also includes a discussion on plans for the spring tour of the governor’s mansion in Sacramento. The tour is planned for April 17, with a $5 fee collected during the meeting.

Water will be topic for Yuba tea party
Thomas “Tib” I. Belza of the Yuba County Water Agency will be the guest speaker for the next Yuba-Sutter Tea Party Patriots meeting on Valentine’s Day.
He will present information on water sales, levees and local government issues at the meeting that begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
A question and answer session will follow.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Center, 17th and B streets in Marysville.

Young artists chosen to perform
Kevin Swenson of Yuba City High School is one of four Mid-Valley students selected during the Yuba-Sutter Oratorio Society’s Young Artist Solo competition to perform at the upcoming annual Young Artist Showcase.
He has composed a piece that will be played by the symphony orchestra.
Also named as winners in the competition were Lupita Ramos of Colusa High School, playing oboe; Brennah Kemmerly, Marysville High, alto; and Beth Hastey, Yuba City High, soprano.
The Young Artist Showcase is March 2 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Yuba City.

Diabetes bowling event planned
“Bowl Over Diabetes! bowl-a-thon, to raise money so diabetic children can attend a summer camp, is from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Feb. 16 at Nu Generation Lanes, 876 W. Onstott Road, Yuba City.
Live music, a drawing and door prizes are part of the fundraiser hosted by the Yuba-Sutter Children’s Type I Diabetes Support Group and Resource Centers.
Prizes will be awarded for best team spirit, best team shirt and best overall score.
The support group meets at 7 p.m. the third Friday of every month at 989 Plumas St. Yuba City. The next meeting is Friday.

The International Organization of Women Pilots, Sutter Buttes Chapter of 99s has planned its next meeting for noon Feb. 16.
Any woman who is a pilot or has an interest in aviation is invited to join.

Lioness club hosting breakfast
Loma Rica Lioness Club is hosting its monthly community breakfast from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Feb. 17 at the Foothills Lions Community Center, 5667 Fruitland Road, Loma Rica.
Breakfast choices include ham, sausage, chicken fried steak, eggs, pancakes, waffles, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, peaches and refreshments.
Prices are $3.50 for children age 12 and under, $4.50 for seniors age 55 and over and $5.50 for adults.

Moose women set Red Dress Tea
The Women of the Moose are hosting the annual “Red Dress Tea” event from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Feb. 17 at the Moose Lodge, 205 S. Walton Ave., Yuba City.
Participants are invited to wear a red dress and are asked to bring a teacup.
Tea sandwiches, desserts and chocolate-covered strawberries will be served.
The event includes a guest speaker.
A donation of $10 is requested, with half of the proceeds to benefit the American Heart Association.

Voiles to lead hospital axiliary
Ellie Voiles was installed as president of the Rideout Hospital Auxiliary board of officers for the year during a luncheon Jan. 31.
Officers elected also include Chuck Markham as vice president; Lynette Shahraz, recording secretary; Jan Casey, corresponding secretary; and Dutch Plautz, treasurer.
The luncheon was held at the Yuba City Moose Family Center.

Smith joins Angus Association
Marysville resident Austin Smith was named as a new junior member of the American Angus Association.
As a junior member, Smith is eligible to register cattle, participate in programs and take part in national and regional shows, all sponsored by the association.
The association is the largest beef breed association in the world with more than 25,000 members.
