Burn permits will be needed from Monday
Burn permits will be required starting Monday, according to the Nevada-Yuba-Placer unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The permits are good for small piles of vegetation 4 feet or less in diameter and may be used to burn only dry materials. Burn barrels to burn household waste are no longer allowed.
Permits are available at all CDF fire stations.
Burn guidelines are:
“When burning, watch where the smoke goes and be courteous to neighbors and not smoke them out,” the CDF said.
“If a fire escapes your control, you may be held criminally and civilly responsible for all costs associated with the suppression of the fire and the damage that it caused,” the agency said.
