Letter: Keep government out of health care

To me the whole health care debate is very simple: take the politics and take the Republicans vs. Democrats out of it. Then let's take a step back and look at the big picture.

Do you really want the same bankrupt federal government who has put Medicare on the brink of collapse and managed it so poorly that it is hundreds of billions of dollars in debt running your health care? Do you want the same federal government who so poorly manages the VA health care system running your health care? Do you really want the same bureaucrats who can't even deliver the mail without putting it billions of dollars in debt running your health care?

To further my point are all the stories coming out about how the H1N1 vaccine is in such short supply. Now wait a minute — the federal government has known for months of the coming H1N1 virus but are yet still so unprepared.

In a speech on Aug. 11 President Barack Obama could not have said it any better himself:

"I think private insurers should be able to compete. They do it all the time. I mean. If you think about it, UPS and FedEx are doing just fine. It's the Post Office that's always having problems."

Thank you, Mr. Obama, for proving my point: keep the federal government and all its bureaucrats out of health care.

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
