Commissioning service scheduled March 23
St. James of Jerusalem Episcopal Church will celebrate its commission as a total ministry congregation at noon March 23 at 556 N. George Washington Blvd., Yuba City.
Total ministry is a concept of developing and affirming the ministry of all baptized people.
In addition, church member Richard Laughman will be ordained as a transitional deacon during the service.
The service will be officiated by the Rev. Barry L. Beisner, bishop of Northern California, Diocese of the Episcopal Church.

Yuba City
Good Friday cross walk planned March 29
Residents can take part in the annual The Way of Suffering commemorating Good Friday, recreating Jesus’ walk carrying the cross.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. March 29, volunteers will carry a cross from the Town Center fountain at Plumas Boulevard and B Street along Plumas Street, turning west onto Colusa Avenue and turning south onto Gray Avenue and ending at Sam Brannan Park.

Easter weekend events planned by church
Loma Rica Community Church is hosting a sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. Easter Sunday at Collins Lake off Marysville Road in Browns Valley.
Easter weekend services also planned at the church include:
Good Friday – 5 p.m.-7 p.m. March 29, a meditative and communion service.
Kids Easter Celebration – 11 a.m.-3 p.m. March 30 for ages up to fifth grade. With carnival games, an egg hunt and the Easter story.
Rock solid worship – 7 p.m. March 30.
Easter Sunday – 9 a.m. contemporary service and 11 a.m. classic service.

Neighborhood Easter egg hunt planned at church
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church is hosting a neighborhood Easter egg hunt March 30 for children up to 14 years old.
The free event is co-sponsored by Trinity Anglican Church.
The hunt begins at 9 a.m. at Shepherd of the Valley, 1302 Hooper Road in Yuba City.
