Yuba City police release surveillance photos from robberies

Yuba City police are asking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed two stores at gunpoint just minutes apart last month.

Investigators on Tuesday released two security camera images of the Sept. 27 robberies at the New Stop Convenience Store on Northgate Drive and the Quick Stop market on Garden Highway.

Police believe the same man robbed both stores. The suspect is described as a short, heavy-set Hispanic male in his early 20s.

Officers said the man swiped a carton of cigarettes from the store in the 1200 block of Northgate Drive. About 20 minutes later, pointed a small pistol at a clerk at the store in the 1400 block of Garden Highway and got away with $167 in cash.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired.

The suspect was last seen running north across Teesdale Road, police said.

The thief also matches the description of the man who robbed the Yuba Food & Liquor Market on Sept. 25 in Marysville, but officers have not been able to confirm a connection with that robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Yuba City Police Department at 822-4660.
