Letter: Yuba City veterans clinic falling short

Since becoming a caregiver for a Vietnam veteran, I have learned firsthand about the VA system.

Yuba City built a beautiful VA clinic for our veterans here, but half the time you can't get what you have to get done because either there is no doctor or someone called in sick. I have tried to make things easier for this person and I have attempted to go to the lab for blood tests a day before making the trip to Mather, only to be told that either the person called in sick or because the person is working with the doctor.

They in turn give you a slip to take it to another lab to be drawn. What is the problem with getting someone responsible enough? We owe it to our service men, and the Yuba City VA clinic is a disservice in my opinion. I am not proud to say I am an American when I have seen what our vets go through. We should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing this to happen.
