PREP ROUNDUP: Yuba City downed by Roseville; Marysville tops Golden Sierra

After keeping things close through the first three quarters, the Yuba City High boys basketball team watched as Roseville pulled away in the fourth quarter of Monday's game in Yuba City.

The Honkers were down by five points at half, but fell 87-65 to Roseville and slipped to 3-5 overall.

"It was a close first half," said Yuba City coach Brian Davis. "They (Roseville) just turned it on in the fourth quarter."

Travis Blas led Yuba City with 17 points, while Tanner McAlister finished with 11.

Taylor Elkins had 10 points and eight rebounds, while Nathan Gillming grabbed eight rebounds and Aran Dhillon recorded five blocks in the loss.

Marysville 64, Golden Sierra 55

In Garden Valley — Brandon Graves scored 19 points and the Indians went on to roll Golden Sierra.

Jordan Cabrito had 12 points and Brayden Bartolome added 11 in the victory for Marysville (4-8).

BOYS SOCCER

Live Oak 9, Winters 0

In Live Oak — The Lions wrapped up their non-league schedule with a route over Winters.

Sal Vargas recorded a hat trick, while Jose Medina and Jose Cuellar each added two goals.

Pedro Valencia and Edgar Diaz also scored a goal each for the Lions (4-1-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

Sutter takes third at tourney

In Bakersfield — The Huskies finished third place at the Garces Memorial Soccer Tournament in the Gold A Division over the weekend.

The team won their first game against Tehachapi, 5-1. Erika Linch had three goals, while Jayden Garcia and Kelsey Graham each scored a goal and had an assist. Andria Little also added an assist. Devan Reische had five saves in the match.

The Huskies (9-2) lost their second game to St Joseph, 4-0. Devan Reische had nine saves.

Sutter topped Bakersfield Christian 2-1 in the consolation game. Garcia had one goal, Kelsey Graham had the game winning goal on an assist from Lily Johnson. Devan Reische recorded five saves in goal.

WRESTLING

Lindhurst girls wrap up tourney

In Castro Valley — The Lindhurst girls wrestling team had three grapplers place at the Castro Valley Tournament over the weekend.

Kylie Taylor went 3-1 with two pins to finish in second place in the 103-pound division.

Christy Lor (126) went 2-2 and Shakira Rivera (138) went 4-1 with three pins to place fifth. The team finished 21st out of 54 teams.
