Letter: New stop lights are traffic overkill

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

I live on North Gray Avenue in Yuba City. Recently, Yuba City installed a very stupidly designed stop light signal system at Gray and Queens. While I'm not saying the signals were not needed, I am saying it's huge neon signs (like ones you'd expect to see in a typical Roseville commercial district) "Gray Ave." and "Queens Ave." are totally overkill. I feel sorry for the neighbors living nearby. How do they sleep with those lights beaming through their windows?

Lastly, I ride a motorcycle throughout the Twin Cities and have noticed when I'm waiting to turn left or right at signaled intersections, the lights never ever seem to turn green for me. This has caused me to run them after several minutes of frustration. Can't Yuba City engineers adjust the lights so I and other bikers don't have to endanger our lives?

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
