Letter: Rethink options for old firehouse

Well-meaning Yuba City City Council actions on use of the Walton firehouse might be better served if that clean, beautiful, building with the three large bay doors were leased to a low-impact business for the purpose of generating monthly revenues to the city for the purchase of food, clothing, cold-weather camping equipment, which can be donated to churches for distribution to the poverty stricken.   

Alternatively – maybe even better? – the firehouse would make an excellent truck collection and distribution point for damaged food, clothing and camping gear donated by businesses and individuals for further distribution by churches to needy families.

These two options are far more logistically effective than using it as a form of a rotating halfway house for a select few, which will be difficult and complicated to execute and control.
