Letter: City water is a healthier choice

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to hook up to the city’s water for such a low fee. Having been in the Hillcrest Water District for more than 30 years, we will not need water softener salt or new water softeners.

We will not have brown water in our toilets or spewing from our faucets – our white clothes will be white. Every few years, we will not need to replace our faucets, dishwashers, washers and other plumbing because of the corrosion from well water. We will not have to explain to our guests that this brown water is normal and safe to drink (they don’t believe it either).

My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer more than a year ago and has been getting chemotherapy ever since then. Could the water have anything to do with it?

We will have peace of mind that we have safe water to drink, our water won’t be brown, it won’t harm our plumbing, and it is cheaper than our costs now – just $20 per month.

Please don’t let the “opponents” of this fee ruin our chance to finally have clean and safe water.
