Women's Club honors veterans
Veterans will be honored Sunday during the Hallwood Women's Club monthly breakfast at the club hall, 2629 Highway 20 in Hallwood.
Breakfast will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. Prices range from $5 to $7.

Drama Club stages 'Aladdin'
The Sutter Union High School Drama Club is presenting "The Magical Lamp of Aladdin" two nights in the school's music room/theater.

"Fit for the Holidays" program is one of several November events planned at the Yuba City Senior Center, 777 Ainsley Ave.
The program meets at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 17. The cost is $5.

• Intermediate Computer Class — 9:30 to 11 a.m. Nov. 18 and 25. Cost: $40, Yuba City resident; $45, non-resident.
• AARP Mature Driving Course — 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Cost: $12, resident; $14, non-resident.
• Dance — 7 to 10 p.m. Friday. Cost: $6 per person.
• Sacramento River City Quilt Show Trip — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 20. Cost: $28.
• Mountain Mandarin Festival in Auburn — 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 21. Cost: $33.

VFW changes meeting schedule
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2563 and Ladies Auxiliary has canceled its Nov. 25 meeting and social.
In addition, this Wednesday's meeting, at 7:30 p.m. at 1425 Veterans Memorial Drive in Yuba City, will not include a potluck.
The post and auxiliary will meet at 11:30 a.m. Nov. 18 at El Zarape Restaurant, 1005 Stafford Way in Yuba City.

Workshop set on family impacts
A workshop on recognizing the effects of stress on families when a child has special needs is slated Thursday, sponsored by Family SOUP.
"Family Matters — Family Cares" is from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., followed by lunch, at the Yuba County Office of Education, Yuba Room, 1104 E St., Marysville.
The Yuba County Family Resource Center is co-sponsor.

Blue Star Moms address teachers
A representative of Tri Counties Blue Star Moms will speak at the upcoming coffee meeting of the California Retired Teachers Association Area II Division 53.
The meeting is at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Yuba County Library, Community Room, 303 Second St., Marysville.
The association will have a float in the annual Veterans Day Parade in downtown Marysville following the meeting.

Holiday event set for Nov. 14
The 23rd Annual Holiday Happening with Art Show, sponsored by Rural Artisans, is set from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 in Sutter.
The show is at the Sutter Youth Organization Building, corner of Butte House Road and Acacia Avenue.
Breakfast will be served at 6 a.m. Nov. 14.
Displays include floral, birdhouses, jams, jellies, hand-sewn clothes and Christmas ornaments.

Christmas Goose event scheduled
The Christmas Goose featuring crafts and art, is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the St. Isidore Catholic Church multipurpose room, 222 Clark Ave., in Yuba City.
Items featured at the event include clay arrangements, hand-thrown pottery, stained glass and watercolor pictures.
Admission and parking are free.

Sutter Buttes club visits nursery
The Sutter Buttes Garden Club will visit Eilsey's Nursery Nov. 14 in Auburn.
Participants will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Kmart parking lot, 850 Gray Ave., Yuba City, to travel to the site.
Items available at the nursery include planters, amaryllis, paperwhites and Christmas plants. In addition, the nursery will have a clinic at 2 p.m.

Whiteaker plans fundraising event
Sutter County Supervisor Jim Whiteaker is hosting his annual "Fun Raiser" at the Walnut Avenue Community Center in Yuba City.
Starting at 6 p.m. Nov. 14, the event is at 1431 Walnut Ave. Tickets are $30 per person.
The tickets include no-host cocktails, dinner, a live auction and "Rhythm and Hue" with painter and performer David Garibaldi.

Cat Loop hike planned in Buttes
A hike around Cat Rock Loop in the Sutter Buttes is slated from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14, presented by the Sacramento River Preservation Trust.
Led by Daniel Barth from the Yuba Historical Society, the 2-mile trek will include information on the geology, biology and history of the mountain range.

Live Oak
Self-defense class offered by city
The city of Live Oak is sponsoring a free self-defense class for women and senior citizens, with training provided by Casa de Esperanza.
Classes are from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Boy Scout Building, 2670 Myrtle St., Live Oak.
Open to participants ages 12 years and up, the classes are in observance of National Domestic Violence Month.
