Yuba College softball opens with twinbill sweep

The Yuba College softball team opened its season on a high note as the 49ers swept a doubleheader from visiting Lassen College on Friday afternoon in Linda.

In the first game of the twinbill, the Niners prevailed 15-0 behind a one-hit shutout from returning All-Bay Valley Conference pitcher Rachel Quinn, who also tallied five strikeouts.

Fellow River Valley High product Jacky Tanner was 4 for 4 and Taylor Crabb (Wheatland) was also 4 for 4 and knocked in three runs. McKenzie Kraus and Ashley Gilmore each went 2 for 3.

Yuba capped off the sweep with a 12-3 win behind 2-for-3 performances by Tanner and Quinn, who also doubled. Crabb was a perfect 2 for 2.

Kraus picked up the win in the circle for Yuba, which travels to Merced College for a doubleheader today.
