Innocent plea in YC slaying

A teen accused in a shooting death on Royal Rapid Drive in Yuba City pleaded innocent Monday in Sutter County Superior Court.

Brock Alfred James Collette, 18, of Yuba City, entered the plea through an attorney during an arraignment before Judge Robert Damron. Collette said little during the hearing.

Collette will appear again on Feb. 15. The charges were denied and Collette's attorney, Jesse Santana, waived the right to a preliminary hearing within 10 days.

Bail in the case was not discussed Monday and remains at $1 million. Collette is being held in Sutter County Jail.

Collette, a construction worker and former Yuba City High School student, is accused of murder in connection with the shooting death of David Tycoon Hall, 23, of Yuba City.

The shooting occurred Thursday evening, a few doors down from Hall's family residence at a house on Royal River Drive after an alleged argument between Collette and Hall.

Collette was arrested at a nearby intersection not long after the shooting.

Hall's family members were in attendance at the court hearing. One of them asked to speak to the District Attorney's office but gave no reason.
