New comics joining A-D lineup

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Here's some news you should find amusing: the Appeal Democrat's daily comics pages is about to get funnier. On Nov. 24, not one, not two, but three new comics will join the lineup.

In the A-D's recent online comics poll, "Pickles" received the most votes among those cast for a new comic strip from a collection of 10 to be considered. By "tightening up" the design of the page, we're also able to add the comics that ranked second and third, respectively, among voters, "Rose is Rose" and "Drabble." I voted for "Luann," but my vote only counted once.

"For Better or For Worse" is moving to the classic comics page, replacing "Andy Capp," which has been dropped. Fans of word games can also rejoice: The popular "Jumble" will be featured on the comics page, in the spot now occupied by "The Flying McCoys."

Readers with questions or comments about comics can contact Editor Len La Barth at 749-4718 or llabarth@appealdemocrat.com.

HOMELESS SHELTER?
Yuba City is considering using the former fire station No. 4 on Walton Avenue as a cold-weather shelter for homeless families. Is this a good idea?
Yes. We've gone too long with limited options for homeless families.
It's a good idea, but the fire station is a bad location for this.
No. The city has better things they can use the building for.
I'm not sure.
