Letter: Conservative voices will not be silenced

I am sick and tired of being called a racist. Why? Because I am a conservative. I love my country, which includes all people, black, white, red, yellow, brown.

Yes, I know there are some people out there that discriminate, but there are millions more like me. Who makes the headlines? The people who make stupid and hurtful comments. Who brands conservatives with this label? People like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, who have done more to keep the “racist” label alive while putting money in their own pockets, than anyone else.

It saddens and frightens me that with this administration, our voices are being more and more silenced. When was it OK for the government to become involved with every aspect of our lives and tell us they know what is best for us while spending our money? In the latest controversy – Rush Limbaugh’s interest in buying into a football team – we now know that NFL Players Association Executive Director Demaurice Smith, who sent a letter to the NFL commissioner requesting the denial of Limbaugh’s bid, served as counsel to Attorney General Eric Holder and was a member of Barack Obama’s transition team.

Is there no lengths as to what these people will do to quiet our conservative voices?

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
