Letter: Sadness for once-robust democracy

After learning about Mitt Romney's total disdain for almost half of the country's electorate, his lifelong pursuit of tax avoidance schemes and his successful avoidance of service to his country during the Vietnam War, I feel only sadness for our once-robust democracy when faced by the fact that we have selected a candidate so appalling unfit to lead our country.
