Arrest made in Yuba City after Butte County burglary

The Butte County Sheriff's Office said a man is in custody in connection with a burglary last week in Gridley.

Just before noon on Friday, a Butte County Sheriff's deputy responded to the 1000 block of Township Road on a report of a residential burglary where several firearms were stolen. The deputy used information from a citizen who'd earlier reported a suspicious vehicle in the area, including the license plate number, to investigate the incident.

Deputies from Butte County, Sutter County and Yuba County, along with officers from the Yuba City Police Department, conducted a probation search Sunday in the 2600 block of South Walton Avenue. During the search, officials found several firearms stolen from the Gridley home.

Taken into custody was 29-year-old Donald Hake of Yuba City, who was booked into the Yuba County Jail on unrelated charges and a parole violation. He will face burglary charges in Butte County, according to Butte County Sheriff's Sgt. Mike Lydon.

"The Butte County Sheriff's Office would like to thank the citizens who reported the suspicious vehicle as well as the assisting agencies," Lydon said in a news release.
