Letter: Heckman has great temperament to be judge

I have had the privilege of knowing Sarah Heckman for almost 30 years. She is an intelligent, caring and honest person. I admire her work ethic, determination and the respectful way she treats others. With these attributes, I know she will listen objectively to both sides of every case, thereby making her an excellent judge for everyone who appears before her.

Being the Sutter Court family law facilitator and managing attorney of the court's self-help programs for more than 10 years, Sarah deals with legal matters all day every day.

She has assisted thousands of Sutter litigants with family law and other types of cases in the last decade. Before joining the court staff, Sarah served as a Sutter County deputy district attorney and former department of child support attorney. She also has experience in private civil practice. With her intellectual ability, dedication and stamina, she will be able to quickly adjust to her new obligations as Superior Court judge.

I remember when Sarah enrolled in law school with three children at home. She finished law school in three years and passed the California Bar Exam the very first time. This was all after serving as the executive director of the first California Prune Festival and as a member of the Fremont-Rideout Health Group's senior management team.

Please join me in voting for someone with a great temperament and work ethic. Vote for Sarah Heckman for Sutter Superior Court judge this Nov. 6.
