Other voices: The homosexual agenda and the broken window theory
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The "Broken Window Theory" is a crime-prevention method proving that the reduction of blight will reduce major crime. Broken windows, graffiti, abandoned cars and buildings all produce the environment leading to crime. Skeptics of this theory could not believe that graffiti could be a causing factor for murder or rape. But when this theory was implemented and blight removed in New York City and Seattle, all crime, including major crimes, went down. The Broken Window Theory is now an accepted crime prevention procedure. Blight, however, is not just limited to our physical environment; blight can also exist in damaging and selfish ideas.
Certainly the breakdown of the traditional American family is a major factor in the increase of crime. The almost daily horrific crimes, committed by young children, were something unheard of 50 years ago. The vast numbers of children born out of wedlock and being raised by a single parent has been proven to be a major factor in the increasing downward fall of our moral conscience. Children from these circumstances often turn to gangs as a family option. What has happened to the American family?
The no fault divorce of the1960's, which too easily allowed parents to trash their responsibilities, was perhaps the harbinger of what was to follow. Could there be other seemingly benign causes? Could the acceptance of the unnatural homosexual relationship, as just another life style, be the broken window on the traditional home? Could the efforts to remove the terms "mother" and "father" from birth certificates be more graffiti on the responsibilities of a parent? Could the recent California Supreme Court decision allowing homosexual marriage be the abandoned car and building on communities that, at one time, produced children of a higher moral caliber?
It just amazes me to see how quickly, some of our "enlightened and progressive" citizens and elected leaders reject proven responsible traditions and adopt lies for their own convenience. I am reminded of the words of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom shortly after recently being reelected. He remarked how his illegal marriages of homosexuals a few years back had caused no ill affects on the world.
This statement from a man, who had just been released from alcohol rehabilitation, had a sexual affair with his campaign managers wife, presides over a city that is the venereal disease capital of California and is closing schools because the number of families with children is declining. Oh yes, one of the first items he needed to start working on during his new term was the soaring murder rate in the city by the bay! Is Gavin Newsom so surrounded by blight that he cannot recognize the results?
Some might argue that allowing homosexuals to marry is a matter of fairness. This too is another harbinger of what will follow. Their logic would dictate marriages to multiple spouses or a brother and sister. After all these could be loving relationships and just another life style. Their logic defies an inconvenient truth; defining down the definition of marriage places another dagger in the responsibilities and esteem of a mother and a father and will have far reaching damaging social consequences.
