Letter: Bold, fresh action needed

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The United States of America, as our colonial revolutionaries envisioned, is teetering on the edge of a deep abyss. The current resident in the White House is the destructive weight, pushing us to destruction. He is determined to wreck our economy by stealing from our producers and giving their hard-earned gains to the lazy. He is the apocalypse of our traditional moral standards, preferring to associate with advisers who advocate a child molester philosophy and Hollywood entertainers who reek with the stench of decaying values. He campaigns for more political corruption, while our troops in Afghanistan wait for the support our generals have requested. He is a modern-day Benedict Arnold.

But the fault of our current predicament also lies with the weak leadership of the Republican Party. They have, too often, embraced the socialist ideals and supported   the RINO (Republican in Name Only) candidate, resulting in the 2008 election debacle.

We need some bold, fresh action within the Republican Party leadership. Ron Nehring, chairman of the California Republican Party, needs to stop cozying up to the likes of our failed, phony governor and start emulating and courting the Tea Party Patriots. Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Party, does have some characteristics the Republican Party needs, but a Sarah Palin he is not.

PAY HIKE?
What should the board of trustees do with the proposed $29,282 pay raise for Chancellor Nicki Harrington?
Rescind it. Now is not the time.
Give it to her. She should be compensated fairly and competitively.
