Where do you get your news? Mostly Internet — the Appeal-Democrat is the only newspaper I've gone to online.
What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? The area's size and its population. Originally from Texas, I grew up in Biggs and lived in Gridley for a long time. We decided to come closer to a bigger town — there's more things to do here.
What do you like best about the area? I like the fact there's so much to do — the shopping, stores. I like the people, I like the fact that there's a charter school nearby that my daughter goes to.
Where would you like to live someday? I'd like to live back in Texas, but I don't think I can take the heat back there.
What is your dream vacation? At this point in my life it would probably be Disneyland. Anything that is experienced through my daughter's eyes is the most exciting.
What is one of your favorite memories? My daughter and I flew to Louisiana in May to see a friend of mine from high school. I was apprehensive about it — I was going to be traveling by myself with my young daughter, what was I going to do. I explained everything to her, the airport, shuttles, everything I could think of. The way she walked into the airport, how she carried her bag, it looked like she was an experienced traveler. It's the best experience we ever had together.
What is the closest you've been to a famous person? I met TV talk show host Gary Collins when I was 15. I was with a friend in an elevator in Reno, Nev. — our parents were in the casino and we were riding the elevators. I told him he looked like Gary Collins. He said a lot of people said that.
If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? That my friends and family not have to worry about stresses in life, and just be happy and feel comfortable.
Who has had a strong effect on your life? Probably my father — he taught me how to survive without depending on somebody else.
What would you like to see different in the community? I would like to the fireworks come back. And clean up our lake a little bit more.
What is your pet peeve? People who are inconsiderate.
