90th Birthday: Decker
Longtime Yuba City resident Lloyd Decker celebrated his 90th birthday with family over the Thanksgiving weekend.
He and his wife of 69 years, Auburn Decker, celebrated the event at the home of their son and his wife, Ed and Tammy Decker.
Festivities included a 20-minute DVD slide show set to music arranged by granddaughter Hillary Love.
He was born Nov. 19, 1921, in Calistoga and worked as manager of the Bank of America branch offices in the Yuba City and Marysville area before retiring in 1984.
Formerly he was very active in community organizations, clubs and charities.
A World War II veteran, he served as an Army staff sergeant radioman aboard the USS Ancon in Europe and the Pacific, taking part in five invasions, including D-Day on Omaha Beach, Normandy.
He was also at Tokyo Bay during the peace treaty signing.
His family also includes children, Dodie Lutes Burnett and Mark Decker; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
