10 Yuba-Sutter law enforcement officers honored for service
Ten officers from Yuba-Sutter law enforcement agencies are being honored at the 36th annual Law Enforcement Officers of the Year banquet sponsored by the Marysville Exchange Club.
The event at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds is held annually to honor each department's selection for its officer of the year.
Congressman John Garamendi, D-Walnut Grove, state Sen. Jim Nielsen, R-Gerber, and Assemblyman Dan Logue, R-Loma Rica, have each been invited to attend today's sold-out dinner.
Officers being honored are:
Officer Erika Pearson, Yuba County Probation Department, employed with the department since 2007 and oversees adult programming and daily operations.
Detective Joshua Jellsey, Yuba County Sheriff's Department, started as a reserve correctional officer in 1998, promoted to deputy sheriff in 2000 and recently awarded a position in the investigations unit.
Officer Jaime Knacke, Wheatland Police Department, police officer for 11 years and hired by Wheatland police in 2009. President of the Wheatland Police Officers Association.
Cpl. Aaron Easton, Marysville Police Department, joined Marysville Police in 2010 and president of the Marysville Police Officers Association.
Staff Sgt. Capri D. Morris, Beale Air Force Base, security forces investigator assigned to the 9th Security Forces Squadron at Beale Air Force Base.
Officer James Markus, Yuba College Police Department, joined department in 2004 after working for the Indiana Department of Corrections.
Officer John M. Krohn, Sutter County Probation Department, has been with the agency for 19 years, working his way up to supervising probation officer.
Detective Jason Parker, Yuba City Police Department, president of the Yuba City Police Officers' Association, Reserve officer coordinator, detective and SWAT team member.
Deputy Wesley Schmidt, Sutter County Sheriff's Department, after serving with the US Navy became a full-time patrol deputy in 2010.
Officer Blas Jurado, California Highway Patrol, transferred from San Diego's CHP Office to the Yuba-Sutter CHP Office in 2009.
