Letter: Browns Valley reader has digital TV advice

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The switch from analog to digital TV in the fringe areas is not as simple as getting a converter box or a new digital-ready set.

As Larry Ingraham of Clipper Mills found out (Sept. 22 letter to the editor, "Digital TV shift is the last straw"), if the signal is weak, analog TV will be snowy, but there may be no reception at all with digital.

When we moved to Browns Valley 20 years ago, we found that to receive an acceptable TV signal, we needed an antenna mast-mounted RF signal amplifier.

When we got a couple of more sets and FM radio, we needed a distribution amplifier to maintain the signal.

An RF amplifier, either mast-mounted or inline, may be all Mr. Ingraham needs to be able to receive the digital signal. It is worth a try.
