10 Mid-Valley soccer teams qualify for postseason
The Northern Section released its soccer playoff seedings for the Division I-III playoffs on Saturday and 10 local teams earned the chance to compete for a section championship.
The Sutter High girls squad, which clinched its 10th straight Butte View League championship this season, earned the No. 1 seed in Division II.
Behind the Huskies at No. 2 is Orland, the team they just defeated 8-0 on Wednesday in the regular season finale.
Sutter earned a first-round bye and will host the winner of West Valley-Lassen on Feb. 19. The Huskies are attempting to win the ninth straight section title.
The only other Mid-Valley program in the Division-II field is Live Oak, which won the Sacramento Valley League-I championship with a 7-2 record.
The Lions earned the No. 6 seed and will travel to No. 3 Winters on Thursday.
In Division III, Colusa is hoping to win its fifth consecutive section title and seventh championship in eight seasons.
The No. 3-seeded RedHawks host county rival Pierce (No. 6) on Thursday. No. 5 Williams travels to Willows on Thursday.
On the boys' side, Live Oak was awarded the No. 2 seed in Division II after winning the SVL-I championship. The Lions will host the winner of Thursday's game between No. 6 Sutter and No. 3 West Valley.
No. 5 Gridley will travel to No. 4 Anderson on Thursday. Orland picked up the No. 1 seed.
Williams was the highest-seeded Mid-Valley team in Division III at No. 3 and hosts No. 6 Willows on Thursday. No. 4 Pierce takes on No. 5 Hamilton in Arbuckle.
