Cassie the clown won top dog honors at Saturday's Howl O'Ween dog parade and costume contest.

The 5-year-old Chihuahua walked with her head held high as she competed against 24 other creatively decorated canine's during the fourth annual event at the Sutter Buttes Canine Rescue Thrift Store "barking lot" in Yuba City.

There was the terrier mix dressed as a cheerleader, a toy poodle dressed as a hula dancer, a cocker spaniel dressed as a super San Francisco Giants fan and a miniature pinscher mix dressed as a fairy, just to name a few.

Joe Moore, 62, of Olivehurst, watched from the sideline with his 17-ounce micro Chihuahua named Buttons.

The number of dogs competing dropped nearly in half from 46 last year to 25 this year.

Two dogs were adopted out during Saturday's annual event.
