Veda H. Ethington

Veda H. Ethington, 97, of Yuba City died Jan. 26, 2006, at Marysville Care and Rehabilitation Center in Marysville.


Born in Oaxaca, Sonora, Mexico, she was a longtime Yuba-Sutter resident.


She was a homemaker and owner/operator of Ethington Dairy Farm for about 35 years.


She was a member of Hillcrest Ward, Church of Jesus of Latter-day Saints, and past relief society president at Yuba City Ward, Clark Avenue.


Survivors include a daughter, Darla M. Adams of Yuba City; two sons, Melvyn C. Ethington of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Floyd A. Ethington of Coldwater, Mich.; a brother, Douglas Haymore of Yuba City; three sisters, Eva Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz., Mildred Armstrong of Ivins, Utah, and Ruth Dennett of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Ralph P. Ethington; two sons, Harold Ethington and Lloyd Ethington; a daughter, Lavon Darlene Ethington; five sisters, Cora Haymore, Inez Standage, Viola Martin, Emma Eitel and Lucille Bulecheck; and five brothers, Albert Haymore, Carlos Haymore, Ray Haymore, Floyd Haymore and Arthur Haymore.


Donations may be made to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Family History Center, 1470 Butte House Road, Yuba City, CA 95993; or Sutter North Hospice, 826 Fourth St., Marysville, CA 95901.


Services: A service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Friday, preceded by visitation starting at 1 p.m., at Yuba City Stake, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1470 Butte House Road, Yuba City, with Bishop John Evans conducting. Burial will follow at Sutter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City.
