Holiday events set for the weekend
Music is filling the community tonight to start off the weekend leading up to the holidays.
A Gold Rush Christmas Faire — 5 p.m.-9 p.m. on D Street, between Third and Sixth streets, downtown Marysville. Weather permitting. Sponsored by the Marysville Business Improvement District and the city of Marysville.
Marysville Christmas Tree Lighting — 7 p.m. at Third and D streets, Marysville.
Handel's "The Messiah" — 7 p.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 222 Clark Ave., Yuba City, presented by the Yuba Sutter Symphony and Oratorio Society. Admission is free, with donations accepted.
On Stage: Pianist/vocalist Michael Thomas — 7 p.m. at the Lee Burrows Center for the Arts, 630 E St., Marysville. Tickets are $10 each.
Winter Instrumental — 7:30 p.m. at the Yuba College Theatre, 2088 N. Beale Road, Linda. Tickets are $6 and $8; parking is free.
Craft Fair — 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 920 D St., Marysville. Sponsored by the Marysville Emblem Club No. 384.
Holiday Craft Fair — 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Franklin Elementary School, 332 N. Township Road, Yuba City.
Craft Fair — 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Robbins School in Robbins.
Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program Kick-off — noon-2 p.m. at Shaw and Associates, 950 Tharp Road, Suite 101, Yuba City.
Tree trimming workshop — 1 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Yuba County Library, Community Room, 303 Second St., Marysville.
Annual Marysville Christmas Parade — 5 p.m. on D Street, starting at Sixth Street, Marysville.
Annual "Trees and Traditions" fundraising gala — 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County, 1333 Butte House Road, Yuba City. Tickets are $45 each.
In addition, the Dobbins Elementary School Craft Fair is set 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the school on Old Dobbins Road; and the play "A Christmas Story" is being performed at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Acting Company, 815 B St., Yuba City.
