Reading your article in the Appeal-Democrat April 19 regarding immigration, I noted the new catch phrase of those opposed to enforcement of our immigration laws: "We are all God's children."
Which law will we ignore next? We are, after all, "God's children," all of us, so does that make us exempt from prosecution for our crimes? America welcomes more legal immigrants each year than all other countries combined, the key word is "legal." Those here illegally are placing a financial burden on the American taxpayer that we cannot continue to pay.
Best estimates show the taxpayers are paying more than $100 billion a year in support of illegal aliens and their families. This is about $15 million every hour of every day.
Governor Schwarzenegger has said that California alone spends more than $10 billion a year in support of illegal aliens and their families, this is about the amount of our budget shortfall, which is costing many Americans their jobs. This is $1.5 million every hour of every day that is being spent to support those who are here illegally. How long can we continue these expenditures?
