Major David Ferry

Military News: Arbuckle native promoted to major

David Ferry was promoted to Major on Oct. 1. He is a native of Arbuckle. David is the son of John and Gloria Ferry, and brother of Dr. Elizabeth Ferry-Perata. He was commissioned on Dec. 21, 2002, as an armored officer.

David Ferry graduated from Arbuckle Elementary School, Johnson Junior High School and Pierce High School. He earned an associated arts degree from Lassen Junior College, earned a bachelor's degree, and he earned a master's degree from Marylhurst University in Oregon.

His military education includes the Armored Officer Basic Course, the Scout Leaders Course, the Maneuver Captains Career Course, the Cavalry Leaders Course and the Army Airborne School.

Major Ferry's badges and awards include: Combat Action Badge; Parachutist Badge; Bronze Star Medal; two Meritorius Service Medals; Army Commendation Medal with One Oak Leaf Cluster; Army Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Iraq Campaign Medal with three stars; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Army Service Ribbon; three Overseas Service Ribbons; and Cavalry Spurs.

Major Ferry is married to the former Anna K. Schultz of Placerville. They have two sons, Jake and Tyler. He is currently an instructor at the Engineer Captains Career Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
