Letter: Annual Sikh festival presented obstacles

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Just a quick observation I made on Sunday: The Sikh festival was on, which was great for partygoers. However, for those of us who were trying to get our weekly shopping done, it was a headache.

My husband, who is undergoing chemo right now, was with me when we attempted to park at Wal-Mart. What a zoo!

You may think that dropping him off at the door would've been a good solution. However, you couldn't get close to the front door, and if you did your time was better spent looking for that elusive parking spot.

Because this festival is one of the largest in the country, would it not behoove Yuba City to find a more agreeable venue? Perhaps a location that allows for thousands of automobiles and pedestrians? Say.. the amphitheater or a local high school?

I am sure I don't know all the legal ramifications to my suggestion, and I realize it's just one day out of many, but Yuba City is growing. It's not the sleepy little town it once was where a celebration such as this may have had little impact. But now we must consider the rights and privileges of others.
