• Family: My mom and dad live in Washington state. My older sister lives with her husband in Idaho, my younger sister lives in Japan with her husband who is in the Air Force, my brother is studying at the University of Oregon.
• City of residence: Yuba City
• Occupation: Teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing
• What is your favorite part of the job? Putting all the hard work and knowledge that I gained in college into practice. I often have to figure out creative ways to reach my students. Each student is an individual and I have to find what works for each of them.
• Hobbies, interests: I enjoy playing soccer and softball, and going snowboarding. Other than organized sports I like to chill at home with friends and family or go out and socialize.
• Where do you get your news? TV, Internet, magazine whatever I can read that will tell me what I want to know.
• What brought you to the Yuba-Sutter area? There was a new position that opened with Sutter County and I interviewed for the deaf and hard of hearing itinerant teacher position. Once I was offered the job, I came to Yuba City to check out the community. I loved it so I decided to take the job and moved here.
• What is the closest you've been to a famous person? I went to a Dr. Phil show because he was doing a show on college students.
• If you were granted one wish, what would you wish for? I would wish that all my student loans were paid off.
• Favorite television show: "Grey's Anatomy"
• Favorite sports team: I would rather be playing sports than watching.
• Whom do you most admire and why? I admire my mom. She wanted to be a stay at home mom and raise her children. I feel that she went above and beyond. My mom is always willing to do anything for her children.
• Tell us about a life-changing experience: Growing up with a chronic lung disease. In college with stress, work and a crazy schedule it was hard to stay on top of the disease. Going through days of not being able to breathe but still trying to keep up made me realize that everyone has something they go through.
• What was your first job? I baby-sat in high school but my real job was at Burger King. I became a manager within a few months of working there.
• How would you describe yourself? Energetic and fun. I am always up for an adventure.
• What was your favorite/least favorite subject in school? All the subjects in high school were my least favorite. In college I loved all my classes that had to do with deaf education.
• What are your favorite places to go in Yuba-Sutter area? I enjoy going to church at Calvary Christian Center. I often go to Starbucks for a little pick-me-up and I have recently started to enjoy the Yuba City Racquet Club (the classes are the best!)
