Letter: Vote and worship how you see fit
Comments 0 | Recommend 0In response to Mr. Stephen A. Meyer's Nov. 11 letter: Get a life. Did anyone at the Sutter voting site try to dissuade you from voting against Proposition 8? Did they ask you to join their membership in an attempt to save your soul? No, I bet not. What you did get was a clean, well-lit, warm, dry, and most of all, safe place to cast your ballot in any way you saw fit.
I voted in a building associated with a church in my town. No one was standing at the 100-foot limit with "Yes On Prop. 8" signs and singing hymns. In this great land there are too many people who believe that God and politics are like gasoline and a struck match. The founding fathers had enough of the Church of England, the government-sponsored religious organization of Britain, and set out to allow anyone living under the protection of the U.S. Constitution to worship in the way they saw fit, without fear of official condemnation.
Whether you are a believer, atheist, agnostic, or whatever, just go vote, and leave the government conspiracy stuff to late-night talk radio.
