Letter: Flag etiquette means appropriate lighting

Once again, the Appeal-Democrat sponsored a beautiful fireworks display at All Seasons RV Stadium at Bryant Field (Aug. 1). It’s one of the many fine things the owners of the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox baseball team, Tom and Karen Lininger, have brought to all of us. But the American flag, flying above the California State flag, above the center field wall, remains unlit.

Proper flag etiquette, states, “the flag should be lighted at all times, either by sunlight or an appropriate light source.” It especially looks bad when all the lights are off in the stadium during the fireworks display and the flag is flying bravely, in the wind above the wall in the relative darkness.

I hope there is someone in the community or an electrician for the City of Marysville who would repair the lights and have the flags properly lit at night.
