Letter: Confederate flag is unwelcome at parade

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

What is Veterans Day? It is the day that we honor the men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States of America?

If I remember my history, between 1860 and 1861, 11 southern states seceded from the United States, forming the Confederacy.

So how can you call these men who fought for the Confederacy U.S. veterans? Why show the Confederate flag at the Veterans Day Parade in Marysville?
The Confederacy formed its own government, established its own capital, printed its own curency and enlisted the services of England to supply men and weapons.

As a son of a Marine wounded at Iwo Jima I believe it is unjust to show the Confederate flag at a parade for the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.
