A truckload of turkeys was donated to local groups on Tuesday to help feed families for Thanksgiving.

Dubbed Operation Gobble by Golden State Water Company, the mission was to distribute 625 turkeys locally and 7,000 statewide.

Live Oak Lions Club member Craig Berry was lined up at the Yuba City Walmart with several other groups waiting to receive some of the birds for his organizations' project.

"We deliver 125 food baskets every year for Thanksgiving," said Berry, a 30-year member of the club.

"They usually have enough food in our food baskets to last them a week or a week and a half."
