Business Briefs: Auto body shop, service club hosting food drive

A food drive to benefit local needy families is under way, sponsored for the fourth year by Golden Valley Auto Body and the Exchange Club of Marysville.

Donations of nonperishable food items are being accepted from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday to Friday through Dec. 21 at Golden Valley Auto Body, 727 Sutter St., Yuba City.

About 600 pounds of food were collected last year. Organizers hope to exceed that amount this year.

Bank holding Gingerbread House Contest during Stroll

Local youngsters are invited to take part in the Gingerbread House Contest sponsored by Sutter Community Bank during the Christmas Stroll on Plumas Street in Yuba City.

Open to children in three different age categories, the contest is slated Dec. 7 at the annual event.

Yuba Sutter Colusa Medical Society dinner Dec. 11

Tickets are available for the Yuba Sutter Colusa Medical Society's annual membership dinner and election of officers.

Keynote speaker Dr. Paul Phinney, president of the California Medical Association, will talk about "Leading Change," the challenges faced by medical practices.

The event will start at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11 at The Refuge, 1501 Butte House Road, Yuba City.

Tickets are $25 per person or $40 for couples.

YC home-care unit honored

Nine Sutter Care at Home-affiliated locations in Northern California, including in Yuba City, have been recognized as a Top Agency of the 2012 HomeCareElite.

The compilation is of top-performing home health agencies in the US.

The honored Sutter Care at Home agencies also include sites in Concord, San Leandro, Novato, Roseville, Sacramento, Santa Cruz, San Francisco, San Mateo and Modesto.

Tsuruda, DDS, employees attend seminar

Dr. Deanna Tsuruda and staff in her office completed a seminar and inspection with emphasis on OSHA compliance Nov. 15.

The Occupational Safety and Health Act seminar, given by expert consultant Tom Terry, covered the latest infection control and sterilization procedures.

Attending the in-house seminar were Sandy Rottman, Nancy Stallins and Stephanie Sisemore, registered dental hygienists; Terri Massey and Patricia Vanover, registered dental assistants; and office manager Denise Sebilian.

Jones appointed U.S. Bank Gridley manager

U.S. Bank has announced the placement of Vanessa Jones as branch manager at the Gridley office where she will oversee sales and services.

She is the former assistant branch manager at the Yuba City branch.

With U.S. Bank for the past six years, Jones has been designated a top performer within the bank for several quarters.

She received her associate degree from Yuba College and is active in the Kiwanis Club.

Former Gridley branch manager Kaylee Ballou is continuing in the Gridley office as credit analyst for U.S. Bank's Northern California commercial banking team.
