Letter: Noonan's approach misguided
Lily Noonan of the Yuba-Sutter Regional Arts Council should look elsewhere other than "this hippy dippy idea," her ill-informed description of a collaborative gallery, like Gallery34.
This region has a number of very successful collaborative such galleries including the Auburn Old Town Gallery, The Artery in Davis, High Hand in Loomis and similar galleries in Sacramento, Placerville and Grass Valley. Perhaps if she had taken the time to consult with and visit any of those galleries, she would have learned that they successfully operate in an organized, business-like, and yes, collaborative fashion.
Perhaps doing the hard work, as we all have done, to build a loyal local customer base rather than criticizing the artists and the method of operation Gallery34, would have been more successful.
Her rhetoric and attitude say more about the reason for the demise of the gallery than a gratuitous "hippy-dippy" commentary.
